Cello teacher online

I began my journey into biomechanics in 2004, after completing my Master's degree.  Curious as I am, I started a research into understanding how our body works and the inlfuence on the sound. How to use our body in an optimal way in order to get the best sound? And then, this exploration also led me to a long research about the mechanics of the sound of the cello and its history, and a recording of the Bach Cello Suites.

During teaching, I noticed that most of the cellists who came to me for lessons were unaware that their posture, movement, breathing, and lifestyle were the roots of their sound and playing. This is when I started to developp my own method of teaching cello.
If you don't know how to use your body, you can have the best cello and bow in the world, you will not get the most beautiful sound. Your body is worse  more your Stradivarius.

How I started working online.
In 2014,  former student asked me for help during her bachelor studies in London. At first it, was just a way to keep in touch and help her prepare repertoire and improve her technique, and then another student contacted me and so on... Here I am, 6 years later teaching most of my students online and loving it!

I also offer in-person sessions, depending on which city I am in. I live between Berlin and the Southwest of France.

How I work

During our first meeting we will establish a diagnose of your needs.
The first session lasts between 1h30 and 2 hours. During this time I will observe your playing, we will talk about what you would like to improve, and then, I make a plan on how to achieve you goals.

Common goals:
  • heal from injuries / pain
  • find more sound
  • less tension during playing
  • improve intonation
  • developp different vibratos
  • master your bowing technique
  • play faster
  • find freedom during performance.

What you need...

  • A good internet connection! If you can connect your computer directly to your modem (ethernet cable) it would be even better.
  • Using wifi? Make sure your connection is stable.
  • Zoom settings : the most important is deactivating the "remove background noise" in the sound settings.
